On Tuesday, April 4, Mark Wray passed away peacefully at the age of 69 Mark was born in Saint Petersburg, FL on December 28,1953 to Robert and Barbara (Drummer) Wray.

Mark owned and operated Ginnie Springs Outdoors in High Springs, FL. He had a passion for protecting Florida’s springs and the Santa Fe River. He truly loved Ginnie Springs and enjoyed seeing guests having fun. Mark and his dog, Wrayve, would often spend afternoons paddle boarding on the Santa Fe River.

Mark was an avid fisherman and spent as much time on the water as he could. He started fishing on the dock at his childhood home with his mother at the age of two. Mark especially loved tarpon and king fishing. Mark’s fishing friends nicknamed him “Mad Dog,” as he was a fierce competitor in countless fishing tournaments. He spent summers in Longboat Key fishing tarpon tournaments with his daughters. Mark also spent time in the woods hunting turkey and deer when he wasn’t fishing.

Mark is survived and missed by his daughters, Taylor (Nathan) Skiles and Megan Wray; grandchildren, Nolan and Carson Skiles; mother, Barbara Wray; and companion, Catherine Bowman.

The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of charitable contributions to Tampa Bay Watch or Haven Hospice.

Mark and I had our leg casts at the same time Senior Year. We decided to race down F Hall. It was definitely not the smartest thing we ever did.
