Sharon Anne Volk (68) passed away April 13, 2022, in Minneapolis, MN. Sharon was born July 13, 1954. She graduated from Northeast High School, St Petersburg, in 1972 and then graduated from the University of Florida in 1976. Sharon retired from a career as a flight attendant. She was married to Rolf Haugen for 27 years. She had Alzheimer’s and last lived in a memory care facility in Minneapolis, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert H and Diane Volk and brother Robert “Mickey” H Volk, Jr.

Poster’s Notes: I (Wayne Wells) searched for Sharon for a few years off and on. I finally found out she had a Facebook page under the name Sheryn Volk. I found out that she used the spelling Sheryn, as she liked the spelling. Posts and photos on her FB page are no longer shown, but when I started my search there was a comment on a post where she was referred to as “aunt.” I contacted the person that commented, which yielded new information. This led to long-term friends Susan and Creighton, whom I contacted every so often. There is no published obituary for Sharon Volk. The above information has been shared with me by Sharon’s good friends and through Google searches.

Thanks for posting, Wayne.  Sharon was a beautiful soul back in high school.  I don't know what other guys felt, but she was a dream girl back then -- from afar, of course!  So sorry to hear about alzheimers taking her.  What a wicked, mean disease.  I will trust God has her safely in His hands now, affliction-free in a far better land.

Sharon was one of the 4 of us that made a special movie in 10th grade in Mrs. Hovan's English class. It was called, "Take a Banana Break". I agree with Paul, she was special and beautiful. I was lucky to be one of her guy friends! Live everyday to the max, because you just never know...Too many are gone, way too soon. Those of us that are here, happy and healthy are very lucky!!!!! I have to agree with Paul Sirmons and Rick Bennett, Sharon was beautiful. She was a Jennifer Aniston, before there was Jennifer Aniston (at least to me). I don't remember much about Sharon, but she was fun and always smiling.

Rick, I also agree that we all should live each day to the fullest. I thank God for every day He allows me to walk this earth. Keep in touch with your classmate friends. Tell them you love them. The number of our classmates passing away rises each year. Encourage the classmates you keep in touch with to join our class website, so we can reconnect. If you know of classmates that have passed away and are not noted properly in this website, please let me know so we can move them to the In Memory section of the website.

Sheryn and I shared several classes together. I remember her as smart, funny, kind and beautiful. May she Rest In Peace.

Sheryn was an amazing person and she is greatly missed.  She was always thinking of others and doing things to make their lives a little brighter.  She always remembered everyone's birthday and helped celebrate her extensive family and friends.  She took care of everyone in her path.  Sheryn was generous, thoughtful, kind, and private.  Sheryn and I enjoyed lots of great times together through high school, as college roommates, and throughout life.  We spent some great times with my kids and friends at Ghost Ranch New Mexico hiking and enjoying the natural beauty.  Along her way she found yoga, qualified as an instructor, and would often take 2-3 classes a day.  She split many years between her beloved little home on a lake in Minneapolis and in Redington Beach/St. Pete where her husband Rolf loved to play golf.  Alzheimer's took her away little by little way too early in life.  May she rest in peace...
